Mirela Ampezzan was born in Antônio Prado, Brazil and graduated from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul with a degree in architecture in 1988.

Her career began with architect Lauro Maciel in residential and commercial projects. In 2002, she started working with furniture and interior design. Mirela is currently based in Flores da Cunha, Brazil. Her work is characterized by a blend of contemporary and regional design and she mixes handmade local work with industrial large scale production.
